Within every collection this season, it's hard to say which designer is my personal favorite. Although many of the designers have personal pieces that I would love to add to my wardrobe this spring/summer, Gucci has continuously wowed me these past few seasons. In the Gucci SS 16 campaign, there was so much inspiration from the language and aesthetic of German 80s pop culture, along with a great amount of youth, which I loved the most. Although Gucci has yet to admit, there have been speculations that a great deal of inspiration came from “Christiane F”, a cult film about a 14-year-old girl and her drug and prostitution abuse. After reading the Huffington Post UK and other online media I can absolutely see the resembling’s and to me, if so, that would be the beauty of this campaign. Only such A creative and inspired mind can turn something so ugly into something so beautiful, full of color and life. Please don’t misquote my wording, but the tragedy of a 14-year-old girl and her drug abuse story was relived in such A way that you're able to understand why things occurred and why she was blinded by the lifestyle. It was a living in the moment, youthful, romantic love affair feeling being delivered. Although our life’s may have not been to Christiane F’s extreme these are some qualities of our youthful days we can relate to.

The Mosaic Stairs

San Francisco is a city that comprehends the power of art. Even on the gloomiest days the streets of San Francisco can lead you into the most breath taking views. Located in a residential neighborhood astonishing mosaic-tiled steps were sponsored by over 220 neighbors. All animal, bird and fish mosaic tiles were hand made and construct within the mosaic steps. Blown away by its imagery of the self-luminous sun, through the wishing of stars and under the mysterious sea. With a remarkable view of the Sunset District, making the climb of 163 steps worth every breath.

HOME BEING AWAY FROM HOME

The four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and a scalding cup of Yogi’s
green tea, mixed with a pleasurable taste of French vanilla creamer just wasn’t
the cure of my indistinct feelings. As I sit alone in Dolores park my reading session
turns into a meditative gaze into the powder blue sky. Home being away from home, doesn’t feel quite
like home anymore. At this point ill give it all up. The thought alone of being
engulf by my niece and nephew’s love makes me feel poignant inside. As if I’m
missing something, what a beautiful thing it would be just to see them grow. My
nephew is becoming so skillful with his drawings and my niece is modeling,
acting and learning how to swim all at the age of two. When motivation isn’t
enough, I know love will keep me grounded. Then I remembered my hard work and
dedication is to become their leading star. To reinsure them that all dreams
are possible, as long as they believe.
Yum… the delightful taste of sweet, cinnamon
candy yams, Money green collard greens and a bite of a succulent piece of mom’s baked chicken makes my mouth water. If only I paid attention to her cooking
every Sunday morning I would be able to please this desire. Well I guess San
Francisco forced me to learn how to cook, then again I had to survive. Me being
home right now I would still be the baby in the cradle. Genuine, hyperventilating
laughs… I miss my siblings. We could crack jokes, and just be ourselves all
day. Pulling pranks on my dad as he sleeps is unforgettable. Just picturing it
now makes my stomach weak of laughter___ but… then again I do appreciate “me”
time. Its peaceful, quiet and relaxing. With a sweet cup of Yogi’s green tea, mixed with a pleasurable
taste of French vanilla creamer and a inspirational book such as the four
agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz makes Home being away from home not so bad after
all.
